Mike brings a wide range of experience to the table. Prior to shifting his focus to human movement, performance and health, Mike spent a decade working on the slopes of Blue Mountain and landscaping in his hometown of Port Dover. He worked hard and played harder. After breaking his leg, ACL reconstruction, disc herniation and a fractured skull, Mike decided it was time to step back and reassess his lifestyle. This is when the decision to learn everything about the human body and mind was made.
At the age of 28 Mike moved to Toronto to acquire his Kinesiology degree from the University of Guelph-Humber. During his time in school, he also managed to complete two of his own fundraising ultramarathons involving 4 marathons in 4 days and a 30 hour continuous run around a track. Collectively Mike raised over $25000 for the Terry Fox Foundation and The Make-A-Wish Foundation. Other accomplishments and experience while in school include a trip to Nunavut to deliver the first ever sports camp to remote communities and receiving MVP for the Humber College Varsity Cross Country team. When he finished his undergrad, he began a MSc in Rehabilitation Science with his focus on breathing techniques for recovery from Brain injuries. After finding out his first child was on the way, and that online learning during a pandemic was not ideal for a Master’s, he decided to return to Collingwood where he would settle.
He is certified as a CSEP-CPT and has his eyes on the CEP and NSCA-CSCS certifications. He is also member of the Collingwood United Soccer Club board of directors and serves as the Fitness Director and House League Coordinator. During his spare time, Mike is lifting weights, cycling, running, kayaking, hiking, hanging with his baby girl and his 13 year old husky or golfing (probably golfing).
