“I don’t under stand why everyone doesn’t go to Active Life Conditioning. I would recommend it to any person of any shape, age, size, fitness level, gender because none of that matters there. All that Sarah and her coaches care about is your personal best. They dedicate their lives to helping their members acheive their personal goals and dreams in a super fun, super safe, super challenging environment. There is a place for everyone there! Personal goals at ALC range on the spectrum from elite athletes competing for Canada in a variety of sports to someone like me: 40 yrs old, out of shape with over 100 lbs to lose. Commitment is a two way street there…if you commit to working hard, they commit to working hard with you. I can do things that I never even dreamt of before and not only have the team of coaches at ALC helped me lose almost 90 lbs but they modified all my workouts to help me get through an injury. The classic line from Sarah that I will never forget during my injury was “I am not interested in what you can’t do, I am interested in what you can do. We are going to build on that.” And that is everyones attitude there: positive, upbeat, tenacious, supportive. Sarah and her coaches just seem to know what you need: some days they just listen and provide encouragement and other days they provide a good old fashioned kick in the ass. ALC is such a special place because you are a member of their family and Sarah takes that very seriously. She has dedicated herself to assembling the right team of coaches with extraordinary credentials, immense knowledge and a shared set of values that speak to living a balanced, healthy, active lifestyle that feeds the body, the mind and the spirit. I have never felt so physically and mentally healthy…and it is because of Active LIfe and all that they have done for me. “Thank you” always sounds so insignificant…but I am truly so thankful for them”.

“I’m 38 and I have never had any interest in visiting a gym…or sweating inside! These coaches are worth the price of admission- they are great coaches.  I appreciate the immediate reinforcement and encouragement that they provide. Thanks to Active Life, I have found a greater balance in my approach to fitness and wellness…you create such an electric and inspiring environment. It’s hard to leave a session without a feeling a great sense of accomplishment. Just wanted to say thanks….for your passion and belief in people!”

“Well, its been eventful here in France. the guy who couldn’t tie his shoes a few years ago just climbed 2500 metres today on a road bike, on the 5th consecutive day of climbing. I am so appreciative of your efforts over the last few years to help get me here, and wanted to say thanks”

“I came to Sarah because I was constantly being injured as a result of my fitness activities. Sarah’s program allowed me to overcome these chronic injuries and gradually develop strength and fitness. It’s made a real difference and I am thrilled to feel so fit and to be able to exercise injury free. ”

“I am 52 years young and have always been a fairly active person. I couldn’t even begin to count the number of gyms that I have belonged to over the years. You know the pattern……join a gym, go full out for a few months, do not see much of a difference and either you stop going or the gym closes. That was of course until I met Sarah Applegarth. When I first met Sarah she was training my son who was on the Ontario Ski Team. A few of us mothers convinced Sarah to work with the “old gals” and the rest is history.
Jump forward four years, and I can proudly say that I am still working out with Sarah. It has been an incredible journey and I can honestly say she has changed my life. People often ask me what is the difference between Active Life and the other workout facilities in Collingwood. The difference is you are always working with a trainer. You are never left on your own during a session and no two workouts are the same. As Active Life has grown, so has the staff and the amount of classes that are offered. When Sarah mentioned that she was expanding, selfishly, I was worried that the personal attention would diminish. Was I ever wrong. Sarah has surrounded herself with the most incredible and caring staff and I look forward to my workouts instead of dreading them.
Over recent years I have participated in the Ladies Conditioning program, yoga and a Performance Pedal (spinning) Class. Like most people my age who are active, I have had my share of aches and pains and minor injuries but Active Life has helped me work thru them, and even come out stronger.
Because of my fitness level I enjoy many sports more now than I did 10 years ago. I can ski in the mountains out west and not be crippled with pain by the end of the day. I snow shoe up Blue Mountain and cross country ski on the golf course. I have ridden in the 200km Ride to Conquer Cancer the past five years and have even started racing in the Centurion Road Races.
I consider myself very fortunate, that at 52, life is good and I feel great!! I know, that without Sarah and her amazing staff I might not be saying this, or doing what I do, so a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the gang at Active Life Conditioning. You are the best. ”
